As we all were waiting for OnePlus One smart-phone, a device powered by CyanogenMod, that was about to launch in India on December 2 by OnePlus, the most popular Chinese smart-phone maker. But Cyanogen Inc declared its partnership with Micromax and both the companies said that the CyanogenMod OS will be solely available to only Micromax phones in India shocking OnePlus.

When it comes to talk about CyanogenMod, it is very much popular for its minimalist approach as its Android interface as well as features twisted for performance. With this sudden announcement, OnePlus got surprised.

Answering to the question of people on Twitter, a co-founder of the company Carl Pei said that the launch of the phone was still on schedule. “Our fans have done nothing wrong. We have done nothing wrong. India has waited long enough,” he tweeted.

In a blog post, OnePlus has stated that Cyanogen’s move was “surprising & disappointing” as this company was working in tandem for a successful India launch. However, Cyanogen had launched a new update to obey with Indian regulations especially for the OnePlus One launch.

Moreover, OnePlus One’s India launch will go ahead as the company has scheduled its launch later this week. However, Indian smart-phone users will not get the future updates of CyanogenMod OTA, but they can manually update their devices as it will be obtainable for OnePlus smart-phones in other countries.

To clear the confusion of users, Pei said in a letter on the company website that the company was developing a new Android-based operating system for the OnePlus One. Pei said that his team is already working on the new OS, saying “(the) team was put in place originally to build the software which would power our future devices.

So, though it’s not what we originally planned, we have shifted engineering efforts to the OnePlus One upon hearing this news. According to our current estimations, we’ll be able to release our first community build to our Indian users next month and have a production-ready build in February.”

Pei also added, “Our system will be based on Lollipop, and will be built to be stable, fast, and lightweight. True to our original promise of putting user experience first, it will be bloatware-free and only carry the features important to our users. We appreciate the work that Google has put into Android, and we have no plans of departing from Material Design nor adding unnecessary customizations.”

Discussing on Cyanogen OS, it will come pre-installed on Micromax’s new YU smart-phone that will come at competitive prices to compel Indian market to purchase low-priced devices. Still, the company has not confirmed and released any details on the smart-phone, but it will cost less than the $299 OnePlus One.

Now, Micromax is directly competing with OnePlus One as the company had already mentioned that it along with Cyanogen will be partnering with various companies in order to develop a layer of services on top of the Cyanogen operating system.
